First stop: Barcelona. After every cleanup, in every city, the real figures appear here, weighed bag by bag on site.
Why we do it
From a distance, beaches and parks look clean. Up close you find cigarette butts, bottle caps and fragments of plastic that sooner or later reach the sea.
26.1 kg
of plastic per km of coast, every day
build up on the shore of Barcelona, our first city: the second-highest figure in the Mediterranean. [2]
60
million cigarette butts
collected in international coastal cleanups since 1986. They are the most common item of all. [3]
1
cigarette butt per litre of water
is enough to kill half of the fish exposed to it in laboratory tests. [4]
How a cleanup works
Plogging means picking up litter while you move. We add three live DJs on silent disco headphones, so the whole group dances while it cleans a beach or a park.
Pick up your headphones
Come to the meeting point. We hand out headphones, a T-shirt, a litter picker and a bag, plus a cap and small gifts in summer. Nothing to pay.
Choose your DJ
Three DJs play live on three channels. Switch whenever you like; the light on your headphones shows your channel.
Clean while you dance
For 90 minutes we clean the beach or the park as a group, dancing to the DJs, and pick up plastic, cans, cigarette butts and anything else that doesn’t belong there.
Weigh-in party
Then we head back to the start and weigh every bag together, during 30 minutes of silent disco party with a healthy alcohol-free aperitif.

Corporate volunteering and team building, in Barcelona and beyond
Companies fund the headphones, DJs, T-shirts and litter pickers. In return, every volunteer wears a T-shirt with your logo, and you get verified impact numbers for your sustainability report.
- Your logo on every volunteer T-shirt
- Photos and video from the day to share
- A private cleanup for your team
- A report with kilos collected and beaches cleaned
Supported by

Bring Silent Plogging to your city
The format is made to be repeated anywhere: headphones, three DJs, a beach or a park, and a team on site. If you want to organise cleanups where you live, or your company has offices in other cities, write to us.
